1995年から製作を開始。
当初は、霞ヶ浦を構成する湖の一つである北浦を望む農家を借りて始めました。
スタジオ名は、”北浦”から頂きました。
グラスアートの基本技術の内、吹きガラス、パートドベール等のキルンワーク、江戸切子は、日本で、
ネオンアート、イタリアンモザイクは、アメリカで、ステンドグラスは、アイルランドで、それぞれ学びました。
彫金、木工、陶芸は、独学です。
日本画的で繊細な表現をガラスで実現することが当初からの目標です。
更紗小紋硝子は、その目標実現のため発展させてきた独自の技法です。
North Lake Studio was established in 1995
has been run by Naoki Nakajima 中嶋直輝
is located near Kasumigaura lake(Nishi-ura) which is the second biggest lake in Japan.
Kasumigaura lake consists of three big lakes, Nishi-ura, Sotonasakaura and Kita-ura.
At first, the studio was located near Kita-ura,.
"Kita" means "North" and "ura" means "Lake" in Japanese.
Studio's name comes from that.
